I'm a sucker for a new foundation release, and I'm also a sucker for all things Charlotte Tilbury; so when these two things combined and Magic Foundation (29.50) was born, I was naturally all over it and bought it straight away.
I don't have any stockists local to me, so I had to choose my shade online which I usually don't like doing as 50% of the time I choose wrong.  However, I picked up the second lightest shade and hope for the best.

When it arrived I was instantly in love with the packaging - rose gold lid = ummm yes!  It comes in a glass bottle and has a pump so from the outside all is perfect.
I've been wearing it for almost two weeks now and as much as I really hate to say it, it's just not completely bowled me over like I thought it would.  As a base, it does tick most boxes in that the coverage is full but lightweight, it's easy to blend and it evens out my skin tone which is always a good thing for me as I get a lot of redness.  I love it for all of these reasons and I think it does out do a lot of other bases out there that claim to do the same.  The only bad thing for me is that when I'm having a bad skin day and I have some dry patches - it clings to them.  This has happened a few times now, so it makes me think that to get the full benefit out of this otherwise lovely base you would be better having more oily combination skin rather than dry.  My skin switches annoyingly between the two, and my cheeks are the places to get dry whereas my t zone is always combination.  I think this would definitely be the perfect base if you have more oily skin, as the finish is matte with a slight sheen to it.

I'm really disappointed, as this was one product that I was sure I was going to love!  I do like it for every other reason, but while I still suffer with dryness I won't be able to use it on a regular basis which is such a shame.  However, I totally recommend it if you have more oily skin and want a base that will leave it looking sheer but matte.

Have you tried Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation?  What do you think of it? xx

  1. Gorgeous photo - I have this post scheduled for tomorrow and my photo is v similar, aha :)

I have been really enjoying it, and my skin is quite dry - sad you haven't got on with it! xx

  2. Such a good review, i will definitely steer clear of this foundation as i do tend to have dry patches on my cheeks x

  3. I love CT make-up but I know I wouldn't get on with this as I have dry skin. I do love her other foundation though! xx

  4. What a shame! But from what I've read most people aren't too impressed with this. I feel like bases are harder to get right compared to eye palettes or whatever! x

  5. Honey you should try mix the foundation with just a little bit of a beauty oil, can be amazing the result! Kiss*

  7. Looks so beautiful! - Why not mix it with a serum? I mix my slightly drying foundations with my Estee Lauder ANR :) works a treat | A friendly beauty and lifestyle blog

  8. I was very tempted to order this foundation, even though I don't have CT counter anywhere close to where I live but the more reviews I read the more hesitant I am as it seems like it's not such a magic after all :) x

  9. I have a sample of this on the way and I can't wait to give it a try! I really hope it lives up to my expectations!

  10. I have oily skin so I'd love to give this a go, I think I'd want to try a sample first though, you never know with high end and it's a lot to spend if it doesn't work well with your skin!

  12. I honestly thought this would be a lot more expensive than £29.50?! I'm surprised.
I'm having a real love hate relationships right now with foundations that I think I'd probably have the same issues as you with this one.
I'll keep my eyes open for a sample to give it a bash but I don't think I'll be leaping to buy it just yet.
    Great honest review, lovely :)

  13. OMG I love your blog soooo much? How do you make your blog look so good on BlogSpot. I hope you don't mind me asking, but did you design it yourself or did you say what you wanted and someone did it for you, because it's amazing!!! I hope mine looks as good as this one day xx

  14. ah that's such a shame, I was hoping for good things from this too... it's a total gutter when you've paid so much for something and it doesn't deliver

  15. What a shame you weren't that into this. I definitely have shine-prone skin so the semi-matte finish is pretty perfect xx

  17. I really love the look of this, but I do suffer from dry patches and can't really justify the slurge on it, if I can't continuously wear it. But it's SO pretty! So glad to have read your post on it. :)

Thank you for leaving a comment, I love reading them I and now reply to every one :) xx
